Depends on the neighbor but for the most part, no.

Some are, and some are just extended enemies.

Most of my neighbors are infact extended family. Nephew on one side, sister across the road, her bil on the other side of me and church family at the end of the road. I must say for the most part I have always had a very good relationship with my neighbors.

Do you ever get that "did you know what he did? did you hear what she said?"

My family had that and all there ever was was bickering, gossiping, etc....

I vowed never to live next door to family. Same town is ok, but not that close.

When I was growing up our neighborhood was really friendly. We had block parties a lot and all the adults drank beer while the children rough housed in the street.

Now I hate my neighbors. When I wake up at 4:30 in the morning I can always hear them banging away at each other. Either that or he is running on a treadmill every morning at 4:30. I should ask him instead of hate him.

I live in an apartment complex and I don't really talk to my neighbors. I live in a military town and there are people constantly moving in and out of here. My husband goes shooting every once in a while with our downstairs neighbor but that's the extent of our relationship with them.

Luckily, no. We all mind our own business for the most part (my sis. bil's wife is a bit of a busy body, but we just ignore her) we all get along great and it is nice to have someone to help out with pets or borrow equipment or trade veggies from the garden, etc. We are in the country and cant see each others houses so that may help.
