Ideally your spouse or boyfriend/girl friend is your best friend but experts tell us that the best couples have many friends outside the marriage.

Do you or your partner have a real close best friend and if so describe the scope of the relationship. How often do you see them? How often do you talk by phone or email. Exactly how close are you?

Do you believe that having a number of friends and spending significant time with them and not your spouse will allow each of you to have your space and privacy?

Yes. I have a few best friends outside of my spouse. Believe it or not, HE isn't my whole world.

I also have a best friend besides my husband...she is like the sister I never had...it does not bother my husband at all...for the most part we spend time together during the day when my husband is at work...

Used to, then I got married. Now I rarely see my friends anymore.

Weekend Traveler, you just keep repeating yourself. It's very wearying. A new variation on your last thread??

No. The only friend I'm willing to have is my SO--when I have one. Otherwise it's just me and my monkey.
