This issue is simple. The caregiver is out of line. I think the caregiver is worming their way in to somehow rip off the patient, by being inappropriately authoritarian. Too many stories like this.
Make the caregiver behave appropriately, or better yet get rid of him/her. All you can do is advise the patient/friend to do so. It's up to him whether he will grow a pair and become proactive for his own benefit.
It doesn't matter if the caregiver is acceptable or even good in other ways. This behavior is a big red flag.
Many posters in this thread said much the same thing. We've all been ignored.
The home health aide is being grossly unprofessional. If the aide continues to cause problems like that, I would suggest that your husband's friend ask the agency to send someone else.
