Only happened once. A lady asked if she could use my phone. I politely asked what it was for, she said for a cab. She told me the cab number and let me dial it, I then handed the phone to her. Took about 30 seconds and she said thanks. I think either saying you don't lend your phone to strangers or asking them what the call is for, and then making a decision from there are both acceptable ways to handle someone asking if they can use your phone.

Nope, will not let anyone use my cell phone to make calls - too much of a chance that they don't actually need the phone & will rip me off. I have heard stories of people stealing cell phones that way.

That being said, If I had an I-phone (which I don't) I would be happy looking up directions for someone who asked - which people have done for me. However, in those cases the phone owners are always handling the phone.

Occasionally. I have no problem giving it to them to call as I have free texts and calls.

Nope. There is too much personal info on a phone nowadays. And don't get me started on the germs. Yuck!!!!

Phones can cost as much as a mortgage payment or rent.
Hell no, you won't be using my phone.

I have had a few tweakers in parking lots ask if I had a cell phone and I just lied and told them "no." I don't trust them, and feel like they could rip me off.

That's a good point. Crazy lady who demanded the use of my phone could have been on something.

I think there are scams where someone can dial a number and you get billed/ripped off.. beware!

No, I would never give a stranger my phone.

My phone (iPhone) is like my computer and has way too much information on it to just hand over.

Now, if they gave me another phone number and asked if I could call or text that number for them leaving a message, I might do that. But no.....I'm not about to hand over a several hundred dollar piece of equipment to a stranger.

I generally keep my phone in my pocket, so it's not usually visible.

I have allowed people to use my phone because they were in dire straits. The times I used someone's phones, they saw I was in trouble and allowed me to use theirs. That was when I didn't have a cell phone and felt deep gratitude for it.
