Jim9251, it seems to me your thinking is at least 20 years out-of-date, perhaps more. I grant you that writing a U.S. Mail letter is more trouble and more time-consuming, and so possibly the other party would be impressed by that extra effort. But after all this time and at a moment when the vast majority of people have adopted email as the normal mode of communication, it seems a bit retrograde to call it "impersonal". It is personal because the sender is choosing his or her words to communicate personally with the recipient. To quibble about whether the words are typed or written out by hand seems sort of silly. I side with Biscuitmom and Liberty. How old are you, Jim? I am 69.
