I went from the dentists office straight to the bar when I had mine out. I remember I had to ask for a straw because I couldn't feel the glass on my lips.
Now its oral surgery and hurts to talk. Bob is getting worse by the minute. Will you be on the grief and mourning forum tomorrow?
I've had both oral surgery and wisdom teeth removed and the wisdom teeth were worse. I was eating soup for days, maybe even a week. Your experience sounds like an anomaly.
I don't think it's insensitive that they're enjoying a meal he can't eat right now, but I can't wrap my head around family members not having any sympathy for the pain/discomfort of having all your wisdom teeth out at once.
Ditto

This was certainly not my experience. I had four wisdom teeth taken out on a Friday and had to miss the next week of work due to the intense pain & swelling. Due to the nature of my job it was all unpaid time off. Yikes! A full week without pay really hurt but there was absolutely no way that I could substitute teach through all of the pain.
BTW they had to chip away part of my jaw bone to get one of the teeth out and another was in "sideways" (I don't remember exactly what that meant except that it made it much more difficult to remove). My dentist sent me to an oral surgeon who referred me to an oral surgeon specialist who only dealt in very difficult cases. So not every person who needs recovery time or pain pills is "wimpy".
I think that sometimes wisdom teeth can be pulled out rather easily, but other times it can be a major, serious procedure (especially when part of the tooth is embedded in bone).

I am glad to hear that.

Tell me who is right in this scenario. A teen, say Bob.....
Bob says that he would really prefer to stay home, since he has already spent hours with his family from out of town, he is quite frankly jealous that his family will be shoving in steaks while he is spooning himself broth, his face is puffy, and he can't even bit down without biting down on his inner gums. I tend to agree with Bob, but the parents don't, and was wondering what you all thought.
If YOU are under 18, YOU should do what your parents tell you do. If YOU are an adult, do what YOU want.
Hi Bob. Stop whining and go to grandmas house and enjoy your mashed potatoes and broth. More than likely it won't be as bad as you are making it out to be. You will survive, your mouth is a long way from your heart.
If this is the biggest problem Bob ever has to face in his life he will be damned lucky ! So the rest of the family should be considerate and eat soup and mashed potatoes also ? Bob had better learn to deal with the ups and downs of life or he is going to be one sad little guy.
Toughen up, Bob, it isn't like you had your appendix removed, it was a couple of teeth and in a few days you will be back to normal.

In Bob's case, they had to chip away at bone as well. I think some of these people are a lot tougher behind their computer than in real life!

Hey kiddo not saying that your suffering is not real or valid. Just that expecting the world to stop and suffer along with you is how a child thinks. There will be days in your future when you will be hurting or feel like crap and have to get up and go to work anyway. If this is the worst treatment you ever receive from your family you really need to be thankful that you have them. Other kids have it a lot worse.

I'll bet there are some people on this forum who have endured pain and suffering you can't begin to imagine. Yep, some dental work can be really painful (had my share in my life), but there are ailments and diseases that some of us have had that make that look like a minor inconvenience.
But the point is, the world doesn't stop for everyone else because "Bob" is sore for a few days. He should simply eat his broth and potatoes, enjoy their company, and not complain. It isn't like this is the very last steak dinner he will ever see in his lifetime, it is ONE DINNER, for God's sake.
