Altimas are my favorite mid-size car to drive, I almost bought one. The taillights on the new one are a huge improvement IMO. The previous two generations of Altima had very tacky looking (boy-racer) taillights IMO.

Hopefully they won't ruin it with a CVT.

I don't understand how people can't like a Nissan CVT. I have 2 Nissans with CVT's and love them. The power is always right there. Yes, they make things louder, but that's a small tradeoff in my book. Nissan CVT's are amazing!!

OK, I'm clueless. What is CVT? Excuse my ignorance.

A Continuous Variable Transmission is a transmission that allows for unlimited gear ratios allowing the computer to optimize how much power is sent to the wheels vs fuel efficiency.

From Wikipedia: "The flexibility of a CVT allows the driving shaft to maintain a constant angular velocity over a range of output velocities. This can provide better fuel economy than other transmissions by enabling the engine to run at its most efficient revolutions per minute (RPM) for a range of vehicle speeds. Alternatively it can be used to maximize the performance of a vehicle by allowing the engine to turn at the RPM at which it produces peak power."

Continuously variable transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CVT transmissions have a constant hum when accelerating which sometimes annoys people who are used to the variable hum of a standard/automatic transmission. Older CVTs were not as efficient as todays CVTs.

I have a Toyota eCVT in my Nissan Altima. It uses a planetary gear system which is significantly different than Nissan's implementation.

Thank you for the explanation. I guess a test drive is the only way to find out.
