Relocating to Salisbury Mills NY (Middletown: houses, schools, shop)

Can anyone help? I am considering moving to Salisbury Mills, in Orange county and wonder what's it like.

I have 2 elementary aged children and a small dog - which equally need playtime and recreation. Are there any hiking areas, dog parks, town pools, or other recreation or special events like festivals? Are the people friendly? Is there any cultural diversity in this area, nearby museums, libraries, shopping, farmers markets etc?

And during the snow months, is there a park where the kids can go sleigh riding, or snow tubing? Speaking of snow - does the town plow the roads well during those snow days? Finally, how's the commute to Middletown - mornings and evenings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Relocating, there are several parks in the area, Orange County Park, its about 15 min. away. its a beautiful park and in the winter months they have sleigh riding and snow tubing. Also dependning where you move in Salisbury Mills, they have Beaver Dam lake which houses there have access to the lake for boating,fishing, swimming, ice skating, etc. Also the schools have nice parks for the kids to play at.
