We were looking at Warwick as the go-to town to downsize in our retirement years. Pretty and affordable but, that's the trade off, because there is no public transportation into NYC. The rail system up there takes way too much time and effort, it's not worth spending hours just getting off and on trains that will eventually drop us in NYC.
I do not know of an express bus that leaves from the village into NYC, which would tip the scales in favor of living in Warwick,---but if that were the case --the housing prices would no longer be affordable.
Bottom line---we can't find excellent public transporation and still have some affordable housing fit for seniors on a fixed income
any thoughts????
There is an express bus that leaves from a few different spots in the Village to NYC. I believe the bus is called Shortline or something like that. sorry I can't give better info than that!
happi28, my kids (ages 9 and 12) are also looking to move to Warwick and I'm wondering about where my 12 going on 13 year old will meet other kids her age (same question for my 9 year old). have you moved to Warwick yet? If so, I would be grateful for any input you can provide.
