Chappaqua, NY hardly has any African Americans, but I was surprised when I went there for 2 reasons.
1. Extremely beautiful village. If I ever live in Westchester County (highly unlikely, but you never know), Chappaqua might be the choosen spot. What a beautiful place. Hopefully, in that hypothetical probability, I would end up as neighbor of Vanessa Williams or Bill/Hillary Clinton. lol
2. I was very surprised to see a statue by the Chappaqua Library of a standing young man standing holding an open book with one of his hands. Did I mention this young man was black? Very shocking to see a statue of a non-white man, let alone an African American, in what essentially is a white town.
Anyone that want to live in a town with a heavy African American community Chappaqua may not be the place, however if ever wondering through the village take a look at this statue. Like I said before, the last thing you expect to see in a town with hardly any blacks is a statue of a black man.

Many would put it with Downstate due to being in Westchester County and in the NYC metro area. It has been mentioned in this thread: https://www.city-data.com/forum/new-...ities-203.html and as mentioned Vanessa Williams did grow up there.
Her mom is from Buffalo's East Side and her parents met at SUNY Fredonia(dad is from Oyster Bay in Nassau County and both parents were music teachers(Fredonia has a good music program, btw). So, she has ties to this thread.
While not in NY, Great Barrington MA, about 50 minutes east of Albany is erecting a statue of this native of that small community: https://webduboissculpture.org/
