Naturally it is a holiday, we do not have school, and most of our families are busy making sure we all had New Year’s Resolutions and hope that we could keep them. We live in a very small community, we will take a walk, beginning by the river, the creek empties into the Hudson River, running through a tight knit community surrounding the Riverview Baptist Church, these are our black friends, and most of the men work at the mushroom plant or the brick yards which are the main businesses in Coeymans."

I wouldn't be surprised if those that migrated to the area came from South Carolina, as there is a history of black brick masons in the parts of the state that goes way back and have familiarity with brick making/building, as illustrated here: https://slavedwellingproject.org/who...-charleston-2/

That is in part why many Hudson Valley communities have long time, substantial black/African American populations, as brickyards were a major industry in that region of the state. It is also kind of coincidental that both the area of SC mentioned in that article and the Hudson Valley also have a long French Huguenot history.
