For those that can't read the article from Buffalo Business First... Michael James Moise of Organic Gentleman's Club on the importance of style
Michael James Moise will take you shopping. But that’s a limited way of explaining the service he provides.
The executive director of Organic Gentleman’s Club said his Buffalo-based style consultancy is about clarifying a client’s image and then helping to project it to everyone else.
By doing that, he said clients become more comfortable and confident.
“First impressions are everything,†the 26-year-old said. “This is an investment in yourself.
Moise was born in Massachusetts but living in New York City by the time he enrolled at the University at Buffalo in 2014. By the time he graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and international business, he had decided to stay here.
“The cost of living here is very low and there is a lot of opportunity and growth in Buffalo,†he said.
But his initial job as an entry-level manager at a local company frustrated Moise and he decided to focus his attention on the world of style, a longtime passion
His company began as a blog in November 2016 but friend
Shawn Patterson, CEO of Haut La Vie, convinced Moise to capitalize on his passion. Organic Gentleman’s Club was incorporated in April 2017.
Besides personal consulting, the company has a strong educational focus, seeking to partner with high schools for six-week programs that teach professional development, transitioning from high school to college, financial literacy, healthy lifestyle and entrepreneurship.
Moise said one such course was held last year at Bennett High School in Buffalo and discussions with several other schools are ongoing.
He said the company serves clients from a range of ages and styles, starting with a consultation and progressing into planning sessions and shopping trips.
He has kept a diary since 2013 and recently reread one of his early entries.
“I wrote, ‘I can’t wait until I’m in a position to give back to my family, friends and community.’ This platform showed me how to do that,†he said.
