Hello all

I am writing a book and have decided my setting would be Sleepy Hollow, however I am not familiar with the place at all, only what I can find on Google. Which is not much, as it's mostly about the popular travel aspects, and I need more in-depth information about the actual place. So I have a few questions in order to make my book more authentic/factual :_)

First the hospital, Phelps memorial hospital how many floors/stories **Levels** has that got? I've done a google search and can't find that kind of information, from the pictures it might look to be 5 stories but it could be more? So as much information about that would be great, as I have two fictional characters that will be going there. Does it have the usual ER for emergencies, heart attacks, road accidents, house fires anything that deems an emergency visit to the hospital, again I couldn't find anything to suggest it did or didn't. It seems to be coming up as a 268 bed? Is that all the beds in the entire hospital or is that a separate wing for private?

Schools, how many high schools or um what do you guys call them colleges? University?

Any large or reasonably large malls there? if so what are they called?

If my characters were to drive from Sleepy Hollow to Vermont how long roughly would it take **Off the highway** and what kinds of roads would they be travelling on, scenery around them etc. forests, farm lands or both?

Does Sleepy Hollow NY have beaches or just the Hudson River? Can people go swimming in the Hudson River or is that something prohibited?

As you can see I know nothing about this state, I'm from New Zealand and can't just pick up and go stay there to learn about it, as much as I'd love to as from the things I have found so far it looks like a great place to visit

Some more questions:

Are the land area's flat or hilly?

What is the temperature like in summer and is summer June, July, August or different? I see it snows there in winter? Does that mean they get a white Christmas?

Do they have sheriff's or police or deputies? I guess that sounds like a really stupid question, but I have since doing research have found out that a lot of different states have different variations of police force and give them names ie sheriff's etc so it's best to ask what may sound (Like dumb questions) so I get all the facts right for my story

Do they have other hospitals *No private* or just the Phelps Memorial?

What is in the main town? Shops? Malls? etc...

I probably have a lot more questions, in fact without a doubt I do. However this will do for now, I can come back and pick your ears for more later, thanks in advance for your help

Oh one last thing, if there was a state of emergency and people had to evacuate what routes would they take, would it be likely a 'safe zone' at a school or hall, church set up, or would they all have to leave and go where?

I think you need to go back to school on the internet before asking just about all of these questions.

To MinkeyM I think your comment is ridiculous, uncalled for and certainly unhelpful.

If I could find the answers to my questions, I would not have came in here, thanks for making me feel so very welcome.

99% of your questions can be answered by googling.

To MinkeyM if you could read what I had written you would perhaps not be acting like such an insubordinate child.

Where the hospital information is asked, it was stated I had done google search it was not finding the information I needed. The amount of floor levels. So I came here and asked that initially. Then decided while I was here to ask the other questions.

So much better gathering information from someone who actually lives there. That is not Lazy that is Smart.

Your name calling is what is truly ridiculous, making me out to be the lazy one, all you could have done is read what I wrote, turned around and walked out without a remark. It's wise asses like yourself that cause so many problems in this world.

Learn how to play nice in the sand-box or don't play at all. Your nothing but a BULLY.

Being almost 60 years old, I'm flattered that you have called me an "insubordinate child". Lol.

And as they would say down here, Bless your heart.

Sorry, but I think something is wrong with this.

They say that the best writers are those who write about what they know, perhaps you should visit the location that should answer most of your questions.
