Cheers,

Does anyone know the extend (radius, polution type) of polution from the Warwick Landfill @ Penaluna Rd. (NorthEast of the Greendwood Lake, NY)?

I've seen the official documents and statements from EPA - but I was also hoping that someone has the first-hand knowledge.

Thanks,
Aleks

I haven't heard of any real problems over by the Penaluna Dump. I do know there are a few homes available over there...a new one that's been on the market for a while and a few others.

Good luck!

Toxins can migrate at least 1,000 feet from the perimeter of the landfill property. Most closed dumps contain cancer-causing chemicals. Be careful about living too close to the landfill and find out the source of your drinking water.

Here is the info I was able to find on the WARWICK LANDFILL

EPA | Envirofacts Warehouse | RCRAINFO & EPA | Envirofacts Warehouse | FII

Anyone knows how to read that gibberish?

Also I found this:
TOXMAP - TRI and Superfund Environmental Maps
they list the WARWICK LANDFILL (EPA ID Number: NYD980506679)
as "deleted" from National Priorities List (NPL):
Deleted: Site deleted from the National Priorities List (NPL) by the EPA (with state concurrence) because site cleanup goals have been met and no further response is necessary at the site.

FYI: What is the "National Priorities List" (NPL)?
The National Priorities List (NPL) contains the most serious uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste sites throughout the United States and its territories. The NPL lists sites after 1) completing a Hazard Ranking System (HRS) screening and 2) soliciting and addressing public comments about the proposed site.

According to http://toxmap.nlm.nih.gov/toxmap/sup...d=NYD980506679, the following contaminants are located in the penaluna / warwick landfill:
