I think there is some rumored agreement between Wegmans and Price Chopper in regards to territory. With that said, New Hartford or Clinton would fit the new criteria Wegmans uses for its newer stores.

You may want to check out the Utica Phoenix or MVNY.

The Utica Phoenix - Utica's Independent Newspaper Since 2002

MV NY - Utica, New Hartford, Clinton, Rome, Herkimer New York

Varick Street has some bars/nightlife. The Stanley Theater, The Utica Auditorium and The Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute will have events as well. Nearby Clinton is a nice, quaint community home to Hamilton College. There's also the Turning Stone Casino/Resort nearby.

I've heard that statement before as well, although if Wegmans moves into Albany it could potentially void that theory.

There is also the Val Bialas Ski area, an urban ski slope, and many fine restaurants that you would expect to find in a city 10x the size of Utica. Sangertown Square is the local mall. Genesee St. is likely the place to be to have a good time.

Another Q : What is safer for the snow - heavy Utica kind of winter driving? Are SUVs considered better than sedans? I know they should be all wheeldrive. Excuse me for what might seem as a silly question : I never had to drive before in the city. All responses appreciated.

At least get good all season tires and you should be fine, as municipalities have equipment to clear snow in a timely manner, generally speaking.
