Is it a nice place to live? How would you describe the schools/community in general?

A decent neighborhood with a good school system relative to other public schools. It's a predominantly Irish neighborhood.

Great town !!!! I LOVE Pearl River !!

It's close to the train station into NYC and Hoboken. It has a lot of restaurants bars. It's not far from Nyack and Piermont. And, it's close to the Palisades Mall, and a lot of major highways. Also, it's a close-knit Irish and safe community.

It's not a bad neighborhood. Homes are well-kept, public services are good and the school district performs well in test scores.

Safe and great place to raise kids. I appreciate it more now that I am older. Felt a little left out not being an Irish Catholic as most of the town is and is centered on Irish culture. Nothing wrong with it though. Schools are great and town is really nice to walk in. Taxes aren't bad.

My daughter took horseback riding lessons in Pearl River, so you've got at least one horse farm there. Nice area, semi-rustic in places.

Its okay, housing stock is mixed and old. Schools are decent but I felt the area was congested for me. To be honest, Rockland County is about 20 miles by 15 miles yet there are so many towns, hamlets, villages, etc. that shouldn;t exist. The effect is that it drains the taxpayers. Too much gov't, clerks, cops, etc. With a population of only 300,000, Rockland CCounty may support 1/3 of families. That is too much on the taxpayer's dime. Cuomo has the right idea with eliminating these invisble boundaries, but guess where the opposition is coming from?

Pearl river is not a nice town to live in unless you are white. If you are any other kind of race, this is not the town for you. Police will side with white people even if you where assaulted and beat down. Worst of it is, the schools pick on the minorities. Your children will see other races "getting extra help" while the white population are considered "normal". Not to mention all the heroin in this town. Yet the school/town feels the need to expose heroin in the middle school with all its ads and pictures to kids younger than 13. this town has corruption not visible to the people's eyes. Stay away from this redneck town, unless you want a rookie 25 year old cop harass you. I really believe internal affairs should really investigate the nonsense that's going on here.
