The question has been asked a trillion times, but this is for me and i dont have time to search the forum.

So my question is: I'm moving to NYC and am looking for a safe neighborhood, to be more specific, either Manhattan or Brooklyn. I've been to New York a few times and stayed there a few months but not enough to grasp everything. My rent limit is approximately $1800 and need at least 2 bedrooms. Im not too picky on which part (north, south, east, west), the neighborhood just needs to be safe. It could either be by all the nighlife, or in a part of the city with more of a small town feel (if possible).

$1,800 for 2 bedrooms is TOUGH !

You can check the Hudson Heights or Inwood areas of Manhattan. Both safe and cheaper than other neighborhoods. HH is a 20-30 minute subway ride to Midtown to give you an idea. These hoods also have a bit more of a small town feel as you mention.

Not sure you can swing 2BR w/ 1,800 though. good Luck!

plenty of safe areas in Brooklyn with 2BR fairly under 1800, would be the southern areas further from the city

plug this number into a craigslist apartment search and see what neighborhoods come up repeatedly, then research those neighborhoods. If a listing in a particular neighborhood only comes up once, ignore it as it is probably bait and switch or some other scam.
