I am looking for an inexpensive luxury building. So far I have found the olnick, 2600 netherland ave in riverdale who has one bedrooms around $1400.
Does anyone know of any other luxury buildings that are less than a 20 min walk to the subway below $1400. Yes I would love a pool and a gym, but if I have a gym and a clean/seems like new apartment I will be happy. I have heard there are a lot of inexpensive luxury buildings in queens and the bronx but i can't seem to find them with google.
What exactly do you mean by luxury ?
In NYC almost every apartment building with an elevator has a sign on it that says it is a " luxury " elevator apartment building.
I laugh every time I see one of these signs on a really run down looking building. I think they are from the 50's or 60's.
There are some really nice, inexpensive buildings like you describe along Pelham Parkway near Williamsbridge Road... especially between Williamsbridge and Eastchester Rd. The 5 train actually stops right at the corner of Pelham Parkway and Williamsbridge Rd so it is just a few minutes away.
Luxury to me is nice, clean, renovated, elevator, at least 550sq ft and maybe a gym. Something like the Olnick in Riverdale, NY. I'm willing to go any place where I can hop on a subway line and get to work, not a train. The olnick is inexpensive to me because their one bedrooms are around $1400 and you have a full service building. And they are renovated.
Thanks for the heads upon pelham parkway, im going to googleit now. Any other ideas would be great.

This is news to me, I'm going to have to check that place out.
so no one considers the olnick inexpensive, or is it not luxury and I was just deceived by the pictures? It is so hard to search for rentals online.
No,I agree. It sounds like a really good deal.
Almost anywhere in the city, if you can find a real 1 br in a very decent building( especially with a gym, etc) that is near a subway line it is a good deal.If it is in an area like Riverdale, that is an above average neighborhood, it is an even better deal.
The Century is all rental, and it's a large building, so it's not surprising that some of the 1BRs would be around $1400 in this rental climate, but most are in the $1600 range+, especially on a higher floor with a view. It's a decent building, overall, and has a parking garage, doorman, and other amenities, though the fitness club is a separate membership fee (annually/monthly +enrollment fee) as TCR allows one to become a member without residing in the property. IIRC, it's a 20% discount for Century residents at TCR, but the club is not included in the rent.
