NYC Taxes? (Nassau: to rent, car insurance, income)

I haven't been able to find anyone to answer this question-

I currently live in Nassau county and want to rent in Queens. I know there are additional taxes in NYC and am concerned about how drastic this increase is and if any of it is refunded. Between my fiance and I, we make about 110K and estimate an additional $3500 in taxes. What is the truth behind this?

I think it's about 4% income tax for NYC residents. Plus your home/renters insurance and car insurance will certainly go up, too.

Buddie of mine (retired NYC Cop) lives in Bellrose right on the border by the Cross island said the area just turned GREAT his taxes are $1800 a year.
I almost choked !!
