Pissed off that u have to leave your state just to support your home team. I was on my way to six flags yesterday and really realized how far the meadowlands are from the city.
It's a 10 minute ride from the Port Authority during good traffic.
And when is there good traffic on a game day? You could make phenomenal time to the Meadowlands at 1:00 in the morning, but that doesn't mean much as far as going to see a football game is concerned.
In fact, sports teams over the last 10 or 15 years have been returning to the actual cities from which they came, and abandoning suburbia. Reason: (the reason was there all along, but for a while nobody wanted to acknowledge it) CONVENIENCE.
Well.. I mean, I've went in the morning.. took 10 minutes, afternoon, same thing, and the night as well. People tend to pre-game since 6 o clock.. it's not often that traffic is going to be a problem going there.
All new yorkers should have to do is by a $4.00 metro card and hop on the train to see a game. Just like wit the yankees, knicks or mets. Why does jersey even stand for having a new york team playing in their state
I would agree with you if the team for any other sport was in the suburbs, but since it's football and football has such a different game-attending culture, it's probably better remote from civilization. What idea I find most interesting is bringing urbanity to the stadium instead of vice versa: they're thinking about burying the oceanic parking lot Nassau Coliseum sits on in order to develop the area, which I think is great if done right, but a lot of LIers oppose it because they're under the delusion that Nassau will automatically become Queens if any more buildings over three stories tall are built.

Haven't the Giants changed their helmet design to feature "NJ"?
And the answer to your question is, New Jersey has been surviving since the end of World War II by taking whatever it can from New York. It was probably only a question of time until they got around to our sports teams. (They've got a convenient geographic location for this: north Jersey can take from New York, and south Jersey can take from Philadelphia. Who needs a state identity when you can get by this way?)
I was so happy when they brought back the lowercase NY. As far as NY team logos go, it's probably second to the Yanks, yet it wasn't being used. What a waste.
