Hi everyone,

I've looked around the forums and have definitely seen a lot of helpful stuff. Right now I'm living in Bk, I moved here a few months ago, and I'm looking to move because of marriage, etc. I was kind of deciding between Queens/New rochelle area (I think) or even NJ. Just the sheer number of choices makes it near impossible to get started. Could you guys name like 5 neighborhoods or thoughts off the top of your head?

Basically, just kind of a "suburban" feel, we want to live in a duplex or house, in a quiet, safe area. I'm near Crown Heights now, and it's nice, but we want more like, the not-sharing-a-house type, and in the more suburban area, if that makes sense

New York, I mean, I know supermarkets are going to be close and all.

The other two things big for us is, a close by Spanish population, like even if we lived in another area, we could get there in 10/15 minutes by any way. Looking for an area with public transportation, or at least can walk to it, and get to the city in around 30-45 minutes. Somewhere in the 1500 and under range.

That's it, a lot of people have told me Queens, since NJ is mostly driving, but you guys seem like the pros. Basically the big things are safety, nearby Spanish, 30-45 minutes to the city, suburban-typish (not a lot of apartments, quiet). Thanks a bunch.

I don't know anywhere you can get a duplex or a house for $1500 in Queens that has good access to transportation.

In many areas, that price might get you a one-bedroom apartment.

granted, I really am not familiar with rental prices in the eastern parts of Queens, only the western parts near subways: Astoria, LIC, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Forest Hills, Rego Park.

Possibly parts of Corona or Elmhurst in Queens. But don't overlook Sunset Park in Brooklyn.

Now that I think about it, Middle Village in Queens might be an option. I don't know about transportation there; besides the M train it might be all buses. It's not all that far from Jackson Heights (probably one bus ride)- a hub of Spanish-speaking people.

When I've driven through I've seen mainly houses.
