Is it a safe neighborhood?
It does not have to be perfect because we are in Bedford Stuyvesant now but I do have 6 children and I want to make sure they are going to be okay.
I agree with Sobro, 233rd and White Plains road will pretty much feel like a walk in the park. Jordan is bugging. Most of White plains Rd is crap until you get up till Allerton Ave but 233rd and White Plains road isn't so bad. Its a busy area and the hospital is right down the steep hill and once you get off White Plains road in either direction of 233rd it becomes nicer. Not the greatest but its better than Bed Stuy.
yes, if your accustomed to bed stuy this will be a walk in the park. You can actually walk to the suburbs, the thing is you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference around there.
its good because you have both the 2/5 and the metro north (right by the hospital), and there are lots of buses to catch/transfer to.

Have you been there and checked it out for yourself ?
If not,I suggest you do so.
Are you moving to the area west of 233rd and white plains or east of 233rd and whiteplains road because the niegborhoods west of 233rd looks nice but its not its very ghetto and its one of the most violent areas of the Bronx, while the neigborhoods west of 233rd and whiteplains which consists of a deep long hill might look spooky because of the tenenments however is a little safer the areas east of white plains road. The niegborhoods west of white plains road is close to the woodlawn section. Whiteplains road its self from burke avenue to neried is ghetto and its one of the most dangerous avenues in the Bronx even rivaling the areas in the South Bronx. If I'm not mistaken a family friend of a friend was shot and killed in a gas station last year in that area. The only bright side of 233 and whiteplains is that its not an improvished area like what you see in bedstuy however its just as violent. And if you have a car most likely you will do your shopping cross the border in westchester county like most people in that area.
I'd probably rank WPR as the most dangerous street in the Bronx.
White Plains road between Allertown and Neried is more worse then East Tremont AV between Sedgwick and Sheriden Expressway.
