I’ve read about that in De. It’s kind of a big deal down there.
There is a community in the Syracuse area(Solvay) where they were called "cat eaters", as during the Depression that was all that some in the community could eat. This was told to me by a classmate back in the day, who has family from that nearby community. It is also known for its Tyrolean(mainly Italian) community.
