What large city is rat-free? Can anybody name some? And how they manage to stay rat-free? Let's put a different perspective on it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karni_Mata_Temple

The Rat Temple in India.

" Eating food nibbled by the rats is considered a high honor. "
"Many worshippers believe the rats' saliva has healing properties and will share food and milk with the rats."

I almost gagged on those sentences.

Seriously. I saw my first dead rat in San Francisco (Financial District), and I grew up in NYC. They're everywhere where there's food .

I saw a squashed/splat rat crossing the street today. Some things you just can't un-see. One small consolation is that I didn't step on it! Years of being a pedestrian, I've learned that you have to look down as much as you look up when embarking on my daily treks.

Just like on the subway (or riding any kind of public transportation), you don't just blindly plop yourself down on a seat without first checking it.

Never EVER sit down on the subway! Problem solved.

Something is up because people are seeing way more rats than usual in certain areas of city. Worse those rats aren't staying out doors either, but making their way into buildings.

People better hope forecast for warmer than usual NYC winter is accurate. If temps get too chilly and remain, all those rats will be looking for a nice warm squat indoors.

Not a surprise with all of the filthy outdoor sheds.

If ya can't beat em... you can leave some salmon or eggs out for them and they will have especially soft and shiny coats.
