i saw some ad for a 3 family up around that area early and some on williambridge section (near bx. zoo) but they were in the $600k range. u must be nutz to buy it at that price. $375k is more reasonable. may i ask how long ago did these guys purchased these properties, 1 yrs ago? 2 yrs ago?

This is just Manhattan and Lower Bronx by Zip. I can shift it around to include SI and Brooklyn if anyone wants me to.

Vincent...the 2/3 family houses that are for sale for $600,000++ are market rate, while the ones that are for sale for $450,000 or less are subsidized by the city, thus you must go through a lottery and qualify based on income. He entered the lottery last summer I believe and was selected shortly thereafter.

I use that same exact statement every time I am describing the Bronx.

Nice map Mike!

Let me see some of Brooklyn please.

And the north Bronx if you can.

Thanks.

The red areas, do they encompass Mott Haven, Hunts Point, Soundview, Riker's Island, LES and LIC?

But some of those incomes are really high, so why are they red?

lol...yes i got into bx. science thru the lottery! my score to get into bx. science was near the cut off score. but since i went a jhs in that area where it is considered low income, bx. science gave 3 ppl in my jhs who took the test that came close to the score a chance to attend bx. science, all 3 which includes me were in my home room class. one was a hispanic kid and one was an india dude. i ran across the hispanic kid(who i was cool with when i was in jhs and bx aka mr. popularity), eventually went to lehman college and study nursing. but when i spoke to him on the subway, he was working at central park zoo and still living in the same area in the bx. i felt bad for him. the india dude who i wasn't cool (even though one of my best friend who was another india dude in bx. science who eventually became a doctor) with went to boston college and is working in the financial sector. we had to go to a summer school first though before we were allow to attend bx. science. but after that everything was a smooth sailing.

u dont need to worry about me. i make $60k/yr plus bonus working in the financial sector. i live in rent control house which allowed me to saved alot of money. i dont have any debt including student loans. i dont go out and eat each nite. when i have enought money i will get a condo somewhere in brooklyn plus a summer home in long beach. so i like my bank acct. vs. urs anytime of the week. i dont write like this where i work. this is a forum/internet and i always write like this in a forum, email to friends and stuff.

Good for you Vincent..I hope your dream of a condo and summer home come true very soon! I hope that while you are busy in your new condo and beautiful summer home, you remember those kids, like yourself, that are still in the old neighborhood and could use a helping hand the way BX Science gave you a helping hand.
