Well, I urge my fellow Staten Islanders to report anonymously any drug traffic they see in their area to the police.
Most of the drugs are being sold right out of residences.......And your are correct in your statement, most people do not want to bother, since they do not have teenagers or children.....
There are no teenagers or children on the South Shore? C'mon now. They are the ones who are drugged up.
There are teenagers and children on the North Shore. If you call and complain how long will it take them to get things done? From what I understand that Barbershop in Great Kills was operating as a drug buying place for a long time before cops got around to doing anything.
Anyone considering moving to the North Shore should realize De Bozo and the City Council have big plans for that area. Besides the Wheel and that outlet shopping center BdeB wants to rezone vast swaths of Saint George, Stapleton, and even New Brighton along the Terrace to Randall Manor.
The idea is to bring in high density housing by allowing taller buildings and in the case of areas along Richmond Terrace going west rezone manufacturing areas to permit housing.

On top of that, the bus rapid transit or light rail on SI will NEVER happen regardless of the number of stories the SI Advance runs. The road network on SI can't handle any more density. If he does rezone those areas it's going to be total gridlock.

Notice Oddo is lapping all this up and supporting BdeB's proposals.
As usual Staten Island local elected representatives work for their own interests. Wonder what Oddo's taste will be?
My guess is they are pushing this nonsense on that part of the North Shore to attract yet *MORE* transplants to Staten Island with the lure of "affordable housing". The same BS that is responsible for current mess of over development with those crappy townhouses all over the place.
Down zoning during the Bloomberg years was a great accomplishment, but the damage was already done. To reverse that trend would be a major setback. I doubt BdB has spent much time on SI, but unlike Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, SI's road network was designed for horse and buggy. Major roads such as Amboy Rd, Rockland, and Richmond Rd are narrow, windy, and there are few alternative routes to get where you're going. Add to that the fact that the only public transit, save for the one train line, is buses that operate on these same roads. SI cannot be up zoned like its Brooklyn or Queens, this bozo has no clue.
Pretty much any where south of the Staten Island Expressway will be one of the safest neighborhoods in the city. Mine is rated #2. Great Kills seems to be the center of a heroin/pill problem, but I'm there almost daily and rarely see anything near what I see in the city every day at work. Most problems on the south shore of SI are kept inside.
No where in the world does one crime at a time create a trend.... Besides, known perp crimes are insignificant either way, from petit larceny to murder. So I'm not sure what exactly your point is.
