Where'd all the goths go? (North Hills: to live in, prices, move to)

This isn't another one of those "nostalgia for the '80s" threads, I'm asking that literally.
I'm writing a column for Rivetgig.com about where the goths/punks/members of the related subcultures emigrated to as prices rose and their scenes fizzled. (So don't even waste your time typing out something like "they grew up.") Iif anyone here fits one of those descriptions, used to live in NYC, and has relocated somewhere else:
1. Where'd you move to?
2. When did you leave? And why?
3. Are you happier there? And are you still participating in the scene?
If that's not you, but you know someone else who fits that description, feel free to answer on their behalf. I can at least use it as a base for further research.
I still see a few goths around the city every once in awhile but it seems there are far fewer of them. I always assumed that a goth identity was something that young people tried out for shock value for awhile and then moved on. Maybe it's just not as fashionable anymore.
Beatnik, hippie, punk, goth, grunge and hipster. These are the past counter subcultures in America for nearly the past 60 years. So far I think the hipster culture is on the decline and a new edgy subculture is sprouting up. I have seen plenty of of people dressing up edgy instead of hipsterish.
It seems alive and well in other metros. I befriended a "cybergoth" back in '06, and she is from Erie, Pa., and seems to be surrounded by folks of that ilk in that city. Pittsburgh also seems to have a scene.
But what's "edgy", for the sake of this conversation?

Thank you very much. (...For the only helpful answer I've gotten thus far.) And unless you're referring to Bronxguyanese's post, I'm not really interested in what counts as edgy, just in the experiences of people who've identified with those scenes in the past.
Sure thing, although I agree with barkomatic, too, FWIW.
I kind of forgot about the list of questions.
1. Where'd you move to? I never lived in NYC. When I had a cybergoth friend, I lived in greater Pittsburgh, Pa., she in Erie.
2. When did you leave? And why? I left PA in 2009, back to San Diego. I had moved there in 2000.
3. Are you happier there? And are you still participating in the scene? I never was in the scene. If I tried, I'd look like I was trying too hard. I did not want to move back to San Diego. I had an identity in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, but I'm OK here.
