Planning to apply NYCHA public housing in Manhattan. I might get high priority for me and 2kids. Could anyone suggest good public housing in Manhattan. I heard Isaac was good. Any suggest and experience? Tia

Applied to nycha in april2011 got a interview letter on feb27-2014 interview was march24-2014 and was certified april4-2014. I notice they give two apartments offer are they both the same day ?

No the offers don't come In the same day unless your on a development lists but if ur cetified for a borough lists they give u one chance to choose. One been certified n1-w2 some 3-16-14. I don't think I'll get in my spot till After June remember every case is different the vomputers "so they say"pick every thing So wet just wait. Smh

You will have 2 choices @rene. The boro list means 2 options. I refused my first apt and got selected again the next day and accepted the second.

I live near the Smith Houses and walk through frequently, they seem fine, nice looking grounds and playgrounds. Good neighborhood (LES, Chinatown), on Select Bus route (M15), near-ish to a lot of different subways (but not super near to any one). Easy to get around to lots of different neighborhoods. About once a year I hear about a gun having been fired nearby (happened once a block in front of me), but I gather that isn't too bad considering... Best of luck to you and your kids.
