Hey everyone,

Desperately need to move out of my parents' apartment.
I carelessly submitted my applications recently without correcting the income on my applications. I put the post-tax income instead of the gross income. post tax puts me ineligible for the apartments.

Do I still have a chance? Is there a time I can explain this error, or do they automatically throw your application out for ineligibility?

any advice is much appreciated

if your application is pulled and the income you wrote down is over or under the limits, they will likely send you a rejection letter in the mail and list the reason as you not meeting income requirements. in that case i believe you can write a written appeal, perhaps then you can explain what happened. When applications are selected, they tend to only schedule interviews for those who seem to meet their requirements, conducting the interviews allows them to dig deep and see if you are indeed qualified.

The preliminary application is only to get you the interview, to show you are POSSIBLY qualified. At the interview they will ignore that initial application and start from scratch with your providing all the correct and current numbers.

The reason is obvious because often there is a difference of YEARS between initial and final applications.

It will be only the GROSS numbers they will be interested when push comes to shove.
