I was at a meetup and I mentioned Pickwick's in Nyack, NY, and this guy mentioned that there's a used bookstore in Manhattan.
He said a name that I FEEL like I THINK I remember had "stack" in the name?

Anybody know it?

looking to absorb some information but at a discount
(wanna read up on SQL and Ruby on Rails if I can find books on them)

Another good one, much smaller, is Mercer Street Books.

Several of the newer bookstores in Brooklyn also sell both new and used.

The Mysterious bookshop on Warren street is another cool one, Though it has a focus on mystery and crime novels.

It's good to see that some book stores are still thriving. I've seen quite a few of them close, particularly on the Upper West Side.

I always stop at Mercer Street Books when I'm in the city. There's so many used/bargain bookstores in the village and SoHo. Another good one is the Unoppressive Non-Imperialist Bargain Books (love the store name lol) on Carmine Street in the West Village.

Yes, all Housing Works thrifts have a decent used book section. Like the UES and UWS stores as one guesses persons in those areas have more "interesting" cast offs. Have found some great items in both stores including a totally brand new Baker dining room furniture set.
