Would you vote for a former MTA Chairman for NYC mayor?

Joseph Lhota stepping down as MTA head: sources - NYPOST.com

Quote:
MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota will resign Friday to announce plans to run for mayor, sources said yesterday.

Lhota, a Republican who was deputy mayor under Rudy Giuliani, has been widely praised for quickly getting the MTA up and running after Hurricane Sandy.

That praise — rare for the head of the often-reviled agency — prompted a drumbeat of support from the business community, which fears the mayoral race will tilt dramatically left without a strong Republican in the running.

Lhota’s pals from the Giuliani administration are confident they can raise more than $10 million, enough to keep the campaign competitive, sources said.

I don't know enough to decide to vote for him, although I doubt it - I'm unlikely to want anyone that Giuliani is pushing.

However, given that I think the MTA is in terrible shape, I certainly would never be so foolish as to base a vote on actions after a crisis, when the day-to-day management seems awful. Fares are up, service is worse, money is squandered stupidly.

I just now heard that subway crime is up - no surprise, ha, when they cut back on the booths.

Lhota was an MTA chairman for less than a year, so I doubt you can attribute anything at MTA to him. I am keeping an open mind until I hear more, especially since the rest of potential candidates suck.
