Even though the Twin Towers were not the most visual appealing to me, I really miss them in the skyline. Now that they are not there, whenever I look towards that part of Manhattan from uptown, Brooklyn, Staten Island or Jersey, I realize how emphatic they were. I guess in that way, I prefer them because I am more familiar with them.

Once the Freedom Tower and surrounding buildings are completed, I will be able to make a more accurate judgement.

Both are BIG, BIG buidings filled with functionaries, nothing more.

I can't get too excited about either.

What they do with the transportation hub underneath is probably more important.

How can you really even compare them? They represent completely different things. To me the new buildings represent a physical reminder of how much things have changed in the city since 2001. I personally miss the twin towers though.

What is the difference what we prefer? We can't choose rather we have to accept the new skyline to be.

Well like other posters have said, the original Twin Towers really weren't that pretty, but that was the era in which they were built. But yes, I like the 2 side by side look of the buildings. I liked the low black buildings all around it as well, and the plaza.... So yup, I liked the Old Twin Towers better....

but it is gone forever and we will have a new skyline.

I prefer the twins by far and away. Everyday when I leave work I have to walk by there and whenever I look over and see the area where they stood I get an empty feeling in my heart. Yes the new buildings there are pretty, yes they may be bigger, yes they may be more advance and serve more people...but it will just never compare.

Whenever I flew into NYC I would make sure to get a window seat so I can look over and say ..woooooow. Just the way they dominated the skyline and seemed so big, strong, bulky and in my opinon (and only my opinion) it said dont fu** with us and you are in NU YAWK NOW. Now when I fly in, I think how purty....thats if I am awake. But as someone else said, whats done is done and we just have to learn to except, becasue whats there is there and that thing will be here for our life time anyway.

I vote for the twins, what they have in place now is ****ing anemic and pathetic in comparison.

They're planning 4 World Trade Centers. The old ones were a bit too boxy for my tastes. If all 4 are built it will look really impressive:

Two World Trade Center is supposed to be identical in roof height the old one and only slightly shorter than the just built One World Trade Center. For some reason the image makes it look like there's more of a height difference.
