Back in the day when there was a real Yankee Stadium, with monuments you needed a subway to get to and the players didn't suck up steroids like air, if you came in with that jersey, you wouldn't leave with it!
I was at game 6 of the 2004 ALCS and sat next to a couple wearing Red Sox gear. No one gave them any grief, including after the game was over. There were a couple jokes thrown their way, but they laughed it off and joked back. After the game, they offered 'good luck' in game 7 and everyone around them, including the people joking with them said their good byes.
No one can guarantee your safety, but as long as you don't act like an ass-hat and there are no ass-hats sitting near you, you'll be fine.
Oh man, they are going to grab you by the ankles and dip you into the Harlem River, be prepared!
