I might have to stay in a motel for a month or so.
I've read theres some cheap motel in china town but i would stay anywhere as long as i am like 20 minutes away from the city( yes even new jersey)
You could look into motels/hotels in Long Island City, Queens which would be a very short commute to Midtown Manhattan by subway.
Another option would be the Vanderbilt YMCA on East 47th Street if you have some non local photo identification card (as it is meant for non-residents and they will ask to see you non-local id.).
I stayed in a cheap motel in Rahway, down the 1&9, it was around $40.00,( this was about four years ago) but its about 20 miles from the city. I usually give myself 40 minutes to drive minutes into the city during rush hour. You could probably find something closer in Elizabeth or Union, The average cheap motel is around $70.00 ,They always ask "How many hours sir"
