This summer i want to take a Wednesday off to bike from my apartment in Riverdale to The Bronx Zoo. is admission still free on Wednesday? Can you take a bike past the admission part or do you have to lock it up?
Can you take a bike on the Fordham Univ campus? I have an alumni card from the Social Work school(Lincoln Center) which I attended 20 years ago. or are bikes off limits, alumni or not?
My route would be to take Mosholu Pkwy to the old Ted Kazimiroff Blvd into Southern Blvd to the zoo's 182 street entrance.
Would I be safe on S. Blvd between Fordham Rd and 182 street on a bike(I mean in terms of being a crime victim)?
They don't allow bikes inside the zoo but I think there is a bike rack inside the gate near the ticket booth at the Southern Blvd entrance.
I don't think you'll be a crime victim riding a bike on Southern Blvd but there may also be bike racks at the Fordham Rd entrance and/or the Bronx Park East/Bronx River Parkway entrance. Both are more pleasant than Southern Blvd.
just wondering how it works when you actually go somewhere on a free admission day or a place that has a "suggested donation" and you want to give less than the suggested. I never done that before and always paid the suggested rate.

Just give them less money or if you don't have the exact amount tell them what you would like to pay so that they will give you change accordingly.

I love the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have a $20 suggested donation. I typically give $20. However, there are times when I just don't have the $20 and will give $10. The people don't bat an eye. Just say "thank you" give me the pin and tell me to enjoy the museum. On the occassion when I apologized for only giving $10, the woman said "oh, please, don't worry! Just enjoy the museum!".
