I am looking to move to New York in August 2011 to finish my last two years of college. I'm not sure which are good schools to apply to. I live in Indiana and I understand the out of state tuition and I think I will be able to find a decent apartment with 1500 a month. I plan on trying to find a job before I move. I don't have the best grades so I need a college that is pretty easy to get into, but will get a great education. I want to go to school in NYC or somewhere close by. All in all, I am very confused, I have a list of about 100 schools that meets my major, but now I have to narrow them down and actually apply. So where are some good schools that fit my need?

btw, I'm an english major but am planning on minoring in Journalism or communications.

Thanks

Have you considered CUNY schools?

I was actually thinking about CCNY but I've seen where people say its not very good, so I don't know. Plus, I don't know how hard it is getting in.

Queens College is a very good CUNY school! www.qc.cuny.edu
I would definitely recommend it.

CCNY is and has always been a good college.

A good school...but it should be easy to get into because your grades aren't the best. You do realize what a problem you've set up for yourself, right?

Well I'm getting straight A's now. I had a job and they weren't letting me off for class, so I had to quit. But I'm doing much much better. What i'm worried about is just being able to get in because of this.

I went to Hunter for undergrad and it was good. Their media studies department was pretty strong, I'm not sure about the English Department. Brooklyn, Queens, Hunter, CCNY, are all good, perhaps some of the other CUNY's I just don't know. Plus they are on the affordable side.

Excuse me, but I find it perturbing that you're already in college, but aren't aware of all the books that exist for exactly this type of question (not to mention the annual survey in US News and World Report). You should start by doing some basic research, and you should check as to whether your current school has a counseling office that can also help.

I have done research and I came up with CCNY. I was just asking people that actually live in NY.
