Hello everyone...

some friends of mine are coming for two weeks from Europe and are looking at a hotel in the Greenwood/South Park Slope area. It's on 4th Ave and 22nd street if I'm not mistaken. Since I'm not at all an expert in things Brooklyn I just wanted to hear a few opinions here if it's safe to stay at for 10 days/two weeks. I guess they'll want to take the subway home late etc ...

Park Slope and Sunset Park don't strike me as particularly unsafe neighborhoods, even if one walks around in the middle of the night (though in this case it would be from the subway to the hotel, which is just a couple of blocks and thus shouldn't be a problem). But I didn't want to give them my thumbs up before I consult some people who actually know what they're talking about.

Thanks guys!

That area is fine. Sunset Park does have some bad streets but they're far away from there. I consider that area Park Slope.

They shouldn't have any problems in that area returning late at night. 4th Avenue can feel a bit desolate after midnight or so, but I live along 4th Ave. in the same general area and have never felt unsafe wandering around at any time of day or night.

It's not an unsafe area, it's just desolate and kind of an ugly part of town (near the BQE, nothing there but gas stations and auto body shops).
