It's just me and my daughter moving.
My daughter will be going into kindergarten this year.
I understand Park Slope has the BEST Elem schools, but I'm turned off by the "keeping up with the jones" kind of feel of the place.
Correct me if I'm wrong! I've never been there. I'm just doing a lot of research, and that's what I've read.

Since it's just me and my daughter, and she's so young- I care about safety and schools that have good reputations (they don't have to be #1. Just safe and good.) and a chill feel and a lot to walk to (including sub stops.)

So in a nutshell... what's the second best kid friendly neighborhood in Brooklyn?

Thanks!

I concur with you about the feeling of PS and wouldn't choose it either.

Folks on the forum have suggested Bay Ridge, Ditmas Park, Midwood, Kensington, and Greenwood as alternatives to PS. I really like the Carroll Gardens/Columbia Street Waterfront District.
