Bronx - Riverdale
Brooklyn - Brooklyn Heights, Mill Basin, Park Slope, Manhattan Beach
Queens - Malba, Douglaston, Neponsit, Jamaica Estates
Staten Island - Todt Hill

These are the more affluent neighborhoods.

I've heard of Neponsit but I've never been there. Where iks it located?

Well put.

You should check Neponsit out with your own eyes. You'll have to make a conscious effort to realize that you're still within the borders of New York City!

Incidentally, the beach there is public, but residents of the area treat it as though it's private. Great cooga-mooga...I haven't just given away a secret, have I?

I see it's next to Belle Harbor, which I've been to.

Does anyone know if Hollis Park Gardens is part of Hollis or Jamaica?

Any neighborhood with a "114**" zip code is Jamaica. Hollis is part of Jamaica, as well as Hollis Park Gardens. Holliswood is also part of Jamaica, which I think has some really nice parts that rival Jamaica Estates. What is interesting is whenever I hear folks say Jamaica is bad and horrible, I wonder if they know that Jamaica consists of more than just South Jamaica. Believe it or not, Howard Beach and Rosedale are part of Jamaica, at least according to the post office.

And what about Gravesend ?

I rember reading a couple of years ago that it had the highest price ever paid for a house in Brooklyn......higher than anything in Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope.
Is this true ? If so,it would indicate there there must be some pretty rich people living there.

I rather not be quoted here, but I believe that area now has a substantial East Indian/Middle Eastern population. When I was growing up I had a classmate of African American descent who lived there, but that was years ago. I wonder if anyone else can chime in?
