I submitted the paperwork a month ago. But when I send them via email I had to upload them to the "cloud" because the files were too big. And I see that the attachment will only be available to download until March 20th. I went to Stuytown leasing offices asking for help but they only gave me an email address and the same phone number I've been unsuccessfully calling for the past month.
Do you think they will disqualify me for this, or would they just ask again for the paperwork as they will see it was uploaded but expired?
My lease in my current apartment ends March 31st and my landlord has not sent a new one.
As you can imagine I am panicking and on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Does any of the lottery winners here, have any contact, or is willing to help this poor soul?
I would suggest that you re-upload everything to a different cloud storage site that won't expire (Dropbox or Google Drive, for example), and email them with the link. They probably will just ask you for the paperwork again, but it will expedite things if you have already re-uploaded everything.

Also, what is your log number? It can be quite a long time from when you are first asked for documents to when you get an apartment (9 months, for me!) so I wouldn't count on getting an apartment before the 31st.

My log is in the 24xx. Thanks for the suggestion. Great idea!

Woooo great news, on Tuesday I got the email they were ready to begin processing my application! I am log number 31xx. I keep seeing mixed info on how long it took for people to be offered a unit after submitting their paperwork. Would anyone like to weigh in on that? Also, the email says "Our team will also be reaching out to you in the next few days to preliminarily discuss your application and help determine if we have apartments available within your price range." Will that actually happen or will I just be wondering if they received my info or not? Lastly, if I am offered a unit does anyone know if there is a waiting period until you can add another occupant? The rules clearly state once you have the unit there is no need to re-certify or adjust your household info, but I am wondering if there is a protocol to adding more occupants. My younger sister may come live with me for a period in the future, or my boyfriend may move in someday, so I am curious. Thanks all! This forum has been so helpful.

Great news, neworleansnewyork!

What size apartment are you going for?

As far as moving someone else in, I would wait at least six months, preferably a year.

If you move them in more quickly than that, it looks as if you have hidden an additional household member, and that's not good.

It took 9 months for me, but I know it's been faster for some people. I was never told that they would reach out to "preliminarily discuss" so that may be a new step they've added--I would think that yes, it will happen if they're saying that it will, but maybe take the "next few days" part with a grain of salt and expect that it could take longer. You do get an automated response when you send an email, so that's proof that you've submitted your documents, should you need to prove it later.

I was curious about adding other occupants as well (like you, I don't have a need to do so now, but in the future I might want to!). Here's what my lease says: "EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF UNANTICIPATED LIFE EVENTS, THE TAKING IN OF ADDITIONAL OCCUPANTS SHORTLY AFTER MOVE*IN WITH THE PURPOSE OF CIRCUMVENTING THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLIANCE PROCESS IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED." "Shortly" is vague, but I would think 6 months to a year would be fine, especially if you can show that something has changed (an "unanticipated life event"). If you were already living with your boyfriend but applied on your own, that would be fraud, but if your relationship becomes more serious in the future and then he moves in, my understanding is that that's fine.

You and I were close in log# (under 1100). Have you heard anything from your specialist lately?

That wasn't you last weekend was it? I had a "newbie" ask to borrow a wine opener, funny thing is, I just opened the box that held it. I'm still living out of boxes and, just had our new bedroom set delivered yesterday so, I slept on a real mattress for the 1st time in 2 weeks! Imagine me calling someone a newbie but, I'm definitely not the newest on my floor in 645, all of the doors seemingly have the "Welcome Home" tags.

I'm glad you're setting in, Oldskool!

Stuy Town management starting using the “Welcome Home” door tag a couple of years ago. I guess some residents were in the witness protection program and requested anonymity. (Kidding! )

Newcomers, I recommend putting your name on your door to make it easier for the UPS and FedEx people to deliver your orders to the right place.

Actually, some residents did object to having their names and apartment numbers listed on the board inside the lobby, so everyone's info was removed. The tenants association had to fight for people to be able to "opt in."

People are so worried about a paper list, I bet they have no problem going to Starbucks or the Oval and using the unsecured WiFi.

A 95-year-old neighbor passed away about six months ago, and there's still no work being done on her two-bedroom. I assume that will be a lottery apartment.

That's actually very helpful to see that line from your lease, thank you alpaca! when I applied for the lottery a year ago, I hadn't even met him yet. If he were to move in, I would still be well within the financial requirements, he's a phd student in biology so his income is very, very low. I wonder what "shortly" means!
