Hi, I am in the process of closing, and the paper said to make the check payable to penn station south services inc. for the 1st check, and mutual redevelopment houses, inc for the next 2 checks. Is the 1st address correct? I can't really find much on the 1st company.

Yes, I recall having to make the check out to different payees, these seem familar. One thing for certain: Follow every single instruction that they tell you to. Carmen can be unforgiving, but luckily I was able to give her everything that she asked for.

Are you using Capital One for the mortgage, or Penn South's credit union?

Thanks, using neither, borrowing from friends/family. I did use the insurance broker Carmen suggested.

Congratulations, DaveImpossible! It's always great to hear about another person on the list getting an apartment.

Do you mind telling us which list you were on? 1,2 or studio and your approximate number on the list?

The web site has been down for at least a few weeks, and it has been 3 months since they updated the list, so it's good to hear that people are being called to look at and buy apartments.

Thanks!

Thanks, DaveImpossible. It helps to see how the wait list moves.

I just checked the wait list. You can access it, but it hasn't been updated yet. It's still got the information from February 3rd.

Can anyone tell me the difference between refusing an apartment when called and voluntarily putting your application on hold before being called. What are the rules in these circumstances? Thanks!

Well, I don't know tons about the latter but I do know if you want to be on hold you had better, as you say, do it before you get called; like, ASAP. I got called, asked about being put on hold, was told "yeah sure, no problem"; and the second time I got someone, I got the appalled "You can't put yourself on hold after you were called!1!!1"

For the former category, if you refuse two apartments, they kick you off the list entirely. (This is from the previously posted waitlist 2014 FAQ; I got to it through a cached version. The main version looks like it was temporarily, or permanently, lost to the previously discussed site crash.) I was in fact cautioned by another cooperator when I toured, not to indicate after touring on the app, that there were any apartments I would not take if they were offered to me, because to do so counted as a "refusal". This could be true or a misapprehension; I was too scared to take the chance, lol. The chances that if you don't like an apartment you will in fact be offered said apartment, I believe, are slim to none, though.
