You mean Kinky Boots upstairs? lol. Soundproofing isn't great but honestly, I've gotten used to noises and its not that bad. There are also good noises, like the piano next door and kids laughter in the hallway.
I'm looking at an LG refrigerator and GE stove as well. I'm going to get a 24" stove, which actually doesn't look that small. I have an eat-in kitchen as well. Is your refrigerator quiet?
I bought some peel and stick temporary shades from Home Depot until I decide what I want. I think I'm going with some kind of room darkening or blackout blinds.
Thanks, Incog79. When you move to a one bedroom, maybe you'll get less noisy neighbors. I'm curious about the waitlist for a one bedroom process as well, even though I haven't actually moved in to my studio yet! When I was looking at apartments in July, one of the apartments was still occupied and the owner said that they waited for a one bedroom with balcony for a year on the internal list, but she wanted a specific building, so maybe that took longer.
I've been to my apartment several times and it's been pretty quiet, but I haven't spent the night, so I don't know what to expect as far as street noise, etc. Typical NYC noises I suppose.
I talked to the cooperator who used to live in my studio; she told me she moved into the studio back in 2014 thru the lottery and then applied for the one bedroom on the internal list in 2017. She requested balcony as well as staying in the same building; then she waited 2 more year and got into a one bedroom this year in 2019. So I'll say it's pretty fast once you move into PS.
Yes, I can also hear my neighbor's TV and music but it isn't bad. However, street noise is crazy for me. I can hear the ambulance and firetruck like they were actually passing right by me if I leave the balcony door opened.
