Hello All,

I'll be cruising out of New Orleans in December to Cozumel and Progresso and I was looking for a good place to stay. Ideally I'd like to stay 2 nights so I can spend a little time checking it out. I will not be using a car on the trip so I am not worried about park and cruise packages. I just want a decent place in or close the French quarter. I'm not sure what prices I should expect to pay though. Suggestions? Please and thanks in advance!

You can probably expect to pay between $150-$300 per night depending on the hotel and days of the week. Not knowing how much you'd like to spend, it is hard to give you some recommendations. Check out hotels.com for your dates and you can see what rooms are going for and reviews for the hotels as well. There are many national hotel brands as well as some small boutique hotels in the French Quarter.

Ideally I'd like to pay less than 150 per night, thanks for your input!

I usually can use that "name that price" tool in priceline.com to get a fairly decent hotel. I've gotten Hilton Riverside on occasion for $110-$120/night, a very good price.

The Royal Sonesta would get my vote. It's right in the middle of the Quarter and convenient to everything.

Outside balcony rooms are very cool to sit with a glass of wine, but can be noisy at 3 in the morning.

Was there in December a couple years ago. Not as crazy as other times of the year, and not as sweltering either!

Enjoy your stay.

Royal Sonesta would be closer to that $300 a night level, though, so outside of the budget.

I haven't been on priceline in quite some time, I may need to utilize it again, thanks!

I'm sure you've already checked pricing, but that's usually a quiet time down here. If you book in advance, I would think you could find a nice place for less than $150.

Thanks, I haven't been looking lately but I'm about to get back on the search!
