We are being relocated and after searching for a long time and not coming up with very much we settled on a place. It's on Terry Parkway. I am hoping that it works out ok. We will be there for 4 years. Advice would be nice.

I'm not sure what kind of advice you're looking for, as you have already settled on a house.

I would advise you to check out Hi Do Bakery for Pastries, Breads and Cakes. Also, check out Terrytown Cafe for great donuts.

Well I guess what or where should I avoid. What's a good place place to get groceries. Like meats and such. I dislike walmart and really dislike the quality of their produce and meat dept.

Also I have a 4 year old he is in special classes for speech therepy in the school district here(which I highly respect) we live in Seabrook, TX currently and it is nothing like NOLA.Where are some good schools at. I am assuming it would be a private school but not ruling out public schools yet. I would stay here but situation being as it is we had to move (military).

I will also be looking for work in the area as well. What's the job market on the west bank like? I have background in the auto industry. I have sold cars worked on cars built custom cars you name it.

Not a fan of that side of the river at that point in the river.
GET GOOD flood insurance.
Get a dog.
Lots of wild kids over there from what I remember. Times have only gotten worse in that regard, GENERALLY speaking.
But you are not moving to Ft. Apache, The Bronx or anything. It's gonna do fine.

But I DO question your move. There should be a hot key at City-Data JUST for making this statement....why would you
move to an area you are not familiar with without a job in hand?? There are thousands of people vying for the available
jobs in the areaand they all know people who know people and many have similar skills to what you describe. Your skills
are certainly marketable in the current economy, but you wouldn't catch me using money I need to LIVE on for a MOVE
to a place where I had no job. Good luck. There are worse places you could move without a job. They sell a lot of cars
on the westbank....drive down Lapalco Blvd
