There are loads of opportunity for redevelopment. Of course the demand has to ber there. What draws people to New Orleans to live? I've rarely heard people say they moved here for work, or for housing, schools, or even culture. Most people seem to have gotten here were born here, went to school here, or seemingly stumbled upon the city.
People are moving for work and culture. Students continue to move there as well.

Ironically enough, I'm a transplant who moved here for work. Most of the people I've talked to in and outside of work went to school here or are natives. I do think this is changing and will continue to do so as more people realize that the N.O. Metro is more than a great place to visit.

Yeah I'll be glad when NOLA can shake that perception that its ONLY a great place to visit and not live. Kind of gets annoying sometimes to here people say that. But I guess we have played the part but I'm glad to see new people moving in.

No its not. There was a master plan in place in the 60's or 70's called Orlandia, which was going to transform everything east of interstate 510 in new orleans into basically a whole new city.....it was going to have light and heavy industrial, neighborhoods that would mimick those of the woodlands in texas, retail, skyscrapers schools parks, etc...what stopped the development of that was when the oil boom went bust here in the 80's and Texas took most of the oil jobs that were here

We should be up there with Chicago, New York, Boston, and San Francisco as far as I'm concerned.
