There is a paper called 'Enchantment' that the Otero County Electric Company puts out once a month.
I remember seeing an ad in it about grass fed beef, I think.
I believe even Smith's has grass fed ground beef. It comes in factory packaging (as opposed to the styrofoam tray and plastic wrap) and is usually near the bison meat.
Last Spring Toucan Market featured some beef from an experimental herd of Criollo cattle. This is a breed that's been in New Mexico for 400 years (longer in other parts of the Americas) and is well adapted to desert conditions.
I bought a few steaks and some ground beef, and the flavor was different from Angus...more intense beef flavor, quite lean (almost to a fault) but tender enough when cooked med-rare.
