Anybody in the area know if the 82 (Alamogordo to Cloudcroft) is drivable? We checked the road conditions site but the most it says is 'difficult road conditions'. And no info from CC to Timberon.

It's interesting that at 8:30 Saturday morning the map is showing that formerly closed sections of IH-25 and US-54 are now open, yet US-70 and 54 south and west of Alamo are now closed. There have not been any road closures in the Sacs during this 3-day snow event. I'm guessing it's the major highways that are the cause for concern and local highways are assumed to be driven by people more accustomed to winter driving conditions.

I noticed a comment by someone from the Salt Lake City area who was prevented from driving US-550 north from Bernalillo who said that road conditions were nowhere near as severe as they get in Utah, where they rarely ever close down the interstates.

Yeah, the 70 was open (with warnings) this morning, but now the eastern half on the Alamo side appears to be closed.
Edited to add: Just heard from my son, who is driving from Cruces. The 70 is closed going into Cruces, but coming out toward Alamo is open.

This interactive map shows weather creeping up the 70 (if you view the 'next 6 hours') , and then turning to rain as it nears Alamo.
