With the summer humidity up here most people at least have a window unit in the bedroom.

To think I had 4 practically new units and sold them a couple of years ago. I may live to regret it. It looks like Deming will be our first home in NM. I received a response to an email and am sending out an application tomorrow.

Making it through my daughter's last few months of High School, downsizing to raise cash and figuring out how to get down there is going to be a real treat. I've never moved out of State, we'll have a cat with us and my "Special" daughter can't drive, hates to travel... and hates hills. LOL.

Some parts up north are remaining evaporative because they don't get warm enough to mandate a long 'cooling' season is my guess, so evaporative coolers are a better investment.

I know some houses in northern NM that get by without anything at all. Quite doable if you neighborhood rarely gets warmer than the mid 80's and only for a hours a day for a few months out of the year at that.

I agree with that. The key is RARELY.

I will also be looking in Cortez and maybe Bayfield (just over the line in CO)......and much of the housing does not have AC of any kind, not even swamp.

Default Santa Fe

I am new to this and cannot figure out how to start a discussion. I recently purchased a casita in Santa Fe in the La Madera neighborhood. I'm interested in finding out more about the history of this area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
