As to the speed limit on 380 and 54; I live by both and we have livestock, deer and elk on the road.

Sounds like fun! My favorite part of OK is the tip of the Panhandle around Kenton. Beautiful country! It looks very Western. NM is only 2 miles west of that little town.

caydriver: That's the most valid justification for relatively low speed limits on those roads IMHO. A motorcycle rider in particular doesn't want to run into an animal! Everyone loses.

Yes, it is a very nice route from Boise City into NM, probably even better now that it's all hard pavement. The NM section was largely dirt when I took it many years ago. I've wanted to ride it again ever since then.
