I know the form is the same for the nation, but just asking in my state here of NJ forum.

The first section for person #1 has 10 questions. I answered seven of the ten.... three I did not answer is... name, date of birth and telephone number. I did it the same way last time and mailed in the form around now before April1st..but a census taker still came to my house saying my form was incomplete ( the address was correct that I mailed back to them).

I received a letter from where I worked and it said " you only need to tell them how many live at your address" now this is from a support office where I work as a federal employee on a military base.

Question is do you have to tell them your name, date of birth and tele#???? They will knock on my door if I don't again..what should I tell them??

You're a FEDERAL EMPLOYEE and you're afraid to give the census bureau your DOB and telephone number? From one federal employee to another, trust me, Uncle Sam probably knows more about the two of us than we know about ourselves, so why not just expend the energy to fill out the whole form... Let's see, your telephone number is likely in the phone book as well as on the caller ID of every person you've ever called from your house and your date of birth is contained in the databases of everything from the Social Security Administration to the State Bureau of Vital Statistics, to the DMV, to the State Voter File, so what's the issue? That's not to mention the fact that you're posting on a message board which requires you to log in from a fixed location that is easily traceable-that and I'll bet you have a Facebook page

Well my support office doesn't give us those letters for no reason..seems there is a reason all don't know about I suppose.

I bet 80% of america never knew this.

Just to say, I never said I was afraid to put in on the form..its not needed from what I was told. Plus they already know all about me as you pointed out.

Most people don't even send them back.

You don't have to answer any of the question beside question #1 on page 1.

There are fines that can be levied against you (a few hundred dollars) if you refuse to answer all the questions on the forum or from the census taker when he comes to your house. Technically the Constitution says that they must be an 'enumeration' to determine representation in the House, but nowadays they will fine you if you refuse to comply and answer all the questions. They will even fine you for not filling out the 'American Community Survey' which contains the detailed socio-economic questions that were on the previous census but are missing from this one.

What's your problem? Here's a newsflash for you. The census information can not be made public for 72 years. Officials might be able to get authoization, but isn't your address tied to your name at work? They can get it easier there.

It will be good for your community and your descendents to just give the census your information. You can skip your birth date if you are worried about it. Just fill out the form - and send it in! It's a good thing...
